# Gemini's Connected Apps Expand the Permission Surface

Google is turning Gemini into a front door for more products. On 23 September, it [began rolling out Connected Apps](https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/products/gemini-app/new-connected-apps-gemini/?ref=aienabledpm.com) across productivity, creativity and lifestyle services, including Airtable, Linear, monday.com, Adobe, Webflow, Experian and SeatGeek. Users connect an app in settings and invoke it through an @ mention or direct request.

The rollout expands Gemini's distribution and its permission surface. “Use Linear” might mean reading a project, creating an issue or changing work someone else depends on. Chat can blur that difference until something goes wrong.

Before shipping an integration, define the active account and workspace, which actions are read-only, which require confirmation, and how users can inspect or undo a change. Measure completed actions without correction, not connected accounts alone.

Every connected app needs an explicit authority boundary, failure path and recovery path.
